Overview
Accountability for Water is a new programme of action and research. It will help ensure that stronger accountability fulfils its potential to accelerate delivery of the water SDGs by building up usable, applied evidence for what works, where and why.
Programme origins:
Developed over several years through workshops and collaborations of stakeholders across the water sector in each country. The research is relevant and important to organisations working to improve water security.
Programme delivery: Phase 1 (2020-2023)
Professional Research Fellowships were granted to ensure that the skills developed, as well as the research findings, remain as a legacy within the sector and shape the future of water accountability.
Evidence Review explored the existing research landscape. Visit our knowledge platform to explore the database of existing evidence on accountability for water.
Programme delivery: Phase 2 (2023-2026)
Action Research will be funded to apply the lessons from phase 1 and answer outstanding accountability issues..
Fair Water Action Fund will be set up to support accountability work globally and to enable more donors to effectively support accountability for water.
Engagement:
Ensuring relevance, uptake and legacy are central to this work. Those who will use the research findings must be involved from the beginning. Please get in touch to participate in the programme.
